Rizieq Shihab Remains Detained At Polda Metro Jaya

JAKARTA - The Grand Imam of the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI), Rizieq Shihab, is confirmed to be detained at the Jakarta Police Narcotics Detention Center (Rutan). Although the handling of cases of alleged prosecution and violation of the health protocol (prokes) of the Surah was withdrawn to the Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

"His detention is still there (Polda Metro Jaya Detention Center)," said the Director of General Crimes at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Andi Rian, to VOI, Sunday, December 20.

The reason Rizieq was not transferred, said Andi, was because only the handling was taken to Bareskrim. So, there is no need to move the place of detention.

"The handling of the cases will be transferred," he said.

Meanwhile, Rizieq Shihab is being held at the detention center of the Jakarta Police's Narcotics Directorate for alleged violations of health protocols. He served a prison term of 20 days from December 12 to December 31.

In this case, Rizieq was charged with Articles 160 and 216 of the Criminal Code. Article 160 of the Criminal Code concerning Incitement to Violence and Not Complying with the provisions of the law, with the threat of six years imprisonment or a fine of IDR 4,500.

Meanwhile, Article 216 paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code concerning Obstacles to Legal Provisions. The threat is imprisonment of four months and two weeks or a fine of Rp9,000.
