Sulkifli, Son Of Maros Fisherman Who Rides 17 Km Boat, Passes Tamtama TNI AL

MAKASSAR - Sulkifli, the son of a fisherman from a remote area in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, was declared to have passed the selection and became a candidate for the Navy PK of the Navy.

Sulkifli was previously viral on social media because of his struggle to follow the selection. He had to take the 17 kilometer sea route from the village where he lived in Maros to Lantamal VI Makassar by rowing a traditional boat (katinting).

The news was initially heard through reports and photos received by Kadispen Lantamal VI Marine Captain (KH) Suparman Sulo, via WhatsApp, which reported that 39 prospective Tamtama (CATA) had passed.

In the received photo, there is a message written by Sulkifli which contains "Fishermen's Children Become Dikmata of the Indonesian Navy, Greetings"

"The remarks are a sign of gratitude conveyed by Zulkifli for having passed the selection at the central level in Malang and will now undergo the First Tamtama Education (Dikmata) at the Command for Doctrine, Education and Training of the Indonesian Navy (Kodiklatal) in Surabaya," he said. Sulkifli once told of his struggle to participate in the selection of candidates for Indonesian Navy soldiers.

"To take the test, I had to take a wooden boat (katinting) to hit the sea waves before sunrise," said Sulkifli, Friday, October 2.

He traveled about 17 kilometers from his village by the traditional boat. By relying on a compass, Sulkifli followed the waters from early morning to the Mako Lantamal VI Layang Pier, Makassar.

Sulkifli chose to use a boat to the test site because if he used the land route, he would have to turn further. By boat, Sulkifli reached the test site in Makassar for two hours.

Arriving at the dock of the Lantamal VI area, Sulkifli also leaned on his boat and spontaneously attracted the attention of the Makassar Regional Committee (Panda) in the reception of the PK Soldier Candidates for Battleship and Marine Batch II of the 2020 Fiscal Year at Lantamal VI.

"Incidentally, in my village no one has become a TNI AL soldier," said Sulkifli.

He has followed the test step by step and hopes that this effort will be able to lead him to the dreams he has coveted since childhood.
