Jokowi Meets The Constraints Of Logistics Distribution For Earthquake Victims In Cianjur, Prabowo: TNI-Polri Helicopters Ready!

JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) encountered obstacles in logistics distribution and evacuation for victims of the Cianjur earthquake. He found that he was at the location most affected by the current recorded natural disaster, killing 271 people.

Minister of Defense (Menhan) Prabowo Subianto who participated in Jokowi's entourage to Cianjur emphasized that the TNI and Polri infrastructure is ready to be used to break through obstacles to accelerate emergency response in Cianjur.

"Yes, the TNI-Polri helicopter is ready," Prabowo said accompanying Jokowi to review the earthquake victims who were being treated at the Sayang Hospital, Cianjur, West Java, Thursday, November 24.

Prabowo said that air routes will be prioritized to penetrate obstacles such as damaged roads or buried by landslides at a number of points due to the Cianjur earthquake. This is also in accordance with President Jokowi's orders to respond to the disaster response period.

"The president said it had to be fast, and the rescue of reactions from the TNI was also extraordinary, doctors' reactions, nurses as well," he said.

On that occasion, Prabowo also expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders involved in handling after the Cianjur earthquake. Including the TNI, Polri officers, health workers and all officers and disaster volunteers.

"This is mutual cooperation, this is Indonesia. Our brother has a disaster, we all feel it," he said.

Cianjur was hit by the earthquake on Monday, November 21 at noon. The disaster caused heavy damage to many houses and public infrastructure. In addition, there were also injured victims who were hospitalized and died.

According to a BNPB report as of Wednesday afternoon November 23, the death toll from the Cianjur earthquake was recorded at 271 people, 2,043 were injured, and 40 others were still missing.
