The National Police Use 16 K-9 Tracking Dogs Search For Victims Buried In Landslides Due To The Cianjur Earthquake

The National Police deployed 16 sniffer dogs from the West Java Regional Police's K-9 Detachment to assist in the search for victims of the Cianjur earthquake. The dog was deployed in Cugenang Village, Cijendil Village, Cugenang District, Thursday 24 November.

According to the West Java Police's Animal Head of Police, Iptu Novian Yuga angjing K-9 has been sent since Monday, November 21 to Cianjur and began his assignment on Tuesday, November 22.

"We have been down in a number of locations, in Cijendil Village we have been looking for two days," said Novian, quoted from Antara.

He said, on the first day of the search, the K-9 dog managed to help find the victim's point in Cugenang Village.

The points that were detected were marked for further investigation by the SAR team using manual tools, hoes, shovels, crowbars and sinso.

"On Tuesday we met one body, Wednesday also one body," he said.

At the location of this search, it was quite severe, after being rocked by a landslide. Around 60 houses collapsed buried by rock soil material. The village is located on the cliffs below it, there are village roads and river flows.

In conducting the search, the K-9 dog has been trained to kiss human bodies. Exercise using synthetic meat.

When finding the suspected body, the K-9 dog will give various signals according to the training method.

"There are those who react to swiping the ground, some whose tails shake and some joining," said Novian.

Of the 16 K-9 dogs that were sent to Cianjur, were assigned in turn and distributed to reported areas there were still no victims found.

Until this news was revealed, the joint Police team from Brimob, the National Police's National Police's Intelligence and Security Detachment, the West Java Police were still searching at the landslide location.
