Police Seized the Computer of a Student Who Shot at a Thai School, the Victim Died and Received a Compensation of Rp. 10.7 Million

BANGKOK - Thai police say the gunman who carried out a deadly attack at a school north of Bangkok had searched and viewed a number of websites related to mass shootings before the incident.

Police seized nine electronic devices including a computer from the suspect's residence as part of an investigation into the school shooting attack in Thailand on Friday, August 7. Provisional data, three teachers and three students were killed.

Meanwhile, the Thai Ministry of Education expressed deep sorrow over the deadly shooting by promising stricter security measures in schools and financial compensation for the victims' families.

"Parents are asked to ensure that their children have returned home safely and monitor their emotional state carefully," the ministry said in a statement, as reported by CNN.

The authorities emphasized the safety and mental well-being of students, teachers, and other parties affected by the incident as the top priority.

"Following this incident, security measures at the school will be significantly tightened," the Ministry of Education continued.

This step includes reviewing security procedures, especially efforts to prevent the entry of weapons and other dangerous objects into the school environment.

"A national-level meeting with the directors of the education districts has been scheduled for tomorrow to discuss improving school security and protective measures for students," the ministry said.

The ministry also announced financial assistance to the families of those killed and injured in the shooting, which includes 20,000 Thai Baht (600 US dollars/Rp10.7 million at today's exchange rate) for each deceased victim and 5,000 Thai Baht (150 US dollars) for each victim who was injured.
