JAKARTA - Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono said his party would tighten licensing for music concerts that will start mushrooming towards the end of the year.

The policy was implemented by Heru as a result of COVID-19 cases in the capital city, which is currently starting to increase again. Although Jakarta applies PPKM level 1, Heru will require concert organizers to reduce their audience capacity if they want to get a permit.

"Yes, (the concert license) was tightened. Yesterday I asked the Head of the Tourism Office to reduce licensing. For example, the room is enough for 100 people, it's not 100 but reduced to 60 or 70," Heru said when met at the Monas area, Central Jakarta, Thursday, November 10.

In addition, Heru also ordered the DKI Jakarta Health Office to accelerate the third or booster dose of vaccination services to the public.

"The booster must be accelerated and Mrs. Kadis (Head of the Health Service Widyastuti) guarantees the vaccine, together with the Ministry of Health will also provide it. Hopefully (cases) can decrease, really. Everyone must booster," he said.

For information, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) explained that currently there are a number of areas experiencing community transmission levels or local COVID-19 transmission. Jakarta is currently on level 3 transmission.

The Ministry of Health detected that three Omicron subvariants were the trigger behind the increase in cases, namely the XBB, BA.2.75, and BQ.1 variants.

Jakarta has also created a red zone or area prone to COVID-19 transmission for the period October 31 - November 6. The COVID-19 red zone was detected in Menteng Atas Village, South Jakarta.
