Selling Fake Diamonds At Rawa Bening Jatinegara Market, Indian Citizens Arrested By Immigration Officers

JAKARTA - SMW (46), an Indian citizen, was arrested by Class 1 Immigration officer TPI East Jakarta for being caught selling fake diamonds at the Batu Rawa Bening Market Center, Jatinegara, East Jakarta.

In addition to selling fake diamonds, the perpetrator also violated the residence permit so he was arrested by Immigration officers. The perpetrator's initials SMW was arrested by Immigration members during an intelligence operation. For further processing, the perpetrator was immediately secured by Immigration officers.

From the results of the examination, officers found 9 diamond stones measuring 1 crane and 4 20-crat diamond stones which were suspected to be fake. In addition, the officers also confiscated the perpetrator's cellphone.

From the perpetrator's statement to the police, he sold fake diamonds for hundreds of thousands to millions of rupiah.

Head of the DKI Jakarta Kakanwilkumham Immigration Division, Pamuji Raharja, said that his party arrested an Indian citizen for allegedly selling synthetic or fake diamonds.

"The East Jakarta Immigration Team found that SMW was offering counterfeit diamonds to traders in Central Batu, Rawa Bening," he told reporters, Monday, November 7.

From SMW's statement to the officer, he got the fake diamond from Indonesia. The officer will investigate the suspect's statement.

"It is suspected that there are several other friends of the suspect who also sold the diamond. We are still developing it," he said.

The suspect violated his residence permit because he came to Indonesia on a vacation visa, but when he was in Indonesia, the suspect SMW actually sold fake diamonds in Rawa Bening in the last year.

As a result of his actions, SMW is threatened with being deported and included in the list of irregularities entering Indonesia for 6 months. SMW was also charged with Article 75 of Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning immigration.
