SAR Team Finds 3 Missing Men in East Luwu Forest, South Sulawesi

MAKASSAR - The joint SAR team managed to find three men who were reported missing in the Forest of Kampung Tua Embola, Wasuponda District, East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.

Head of Kendari Basarnas Aris Sofingi said at 15:00 WITA, his party received information from the victim's family who reported that the three men were in Bukit Peteapada, about 6.05 kilometers northeast of where the victims were reported missing.

"Then at 15.30 WITA the joint SAR team headed to the location and found the three victims safe and sound at a predetermined point at the foot of Peteapada Hill, Sorowako," he said as reported by ANTARA, Monday, November 7.

The three victims who were previously reported missing on Saturday (5/11), were named Muhammad Aksan (44), Dedi (29), and Amiruddin (43). They reportedly entered the forest of Kampung Tua Embola using two motorbikes to look for lemme (old iron/heirlooms).

The disappearance of the three victims was then reported to the Kendari Basarnas by one of the victim's families named Sukmawati.

After receiving the report, his party immediately dispatched the East Luwu SAR Alert Unit Rescue Team to the location where the three victims were reported missing.

The search for the three victims involved personnel from various combined elements, including the East Luwu SAR Alert Unit, BPBD, Malili Fire Service, Sorowako SAR, East Luwu PMI, Fes Vale, NasDem Rescue, Baznas, OPA Verbeck, ORARI, Ligas SAR, Earthquake PA Walutim and SAR Maleo.

In addition, Satpol PP, Indonesian Inter-Population Radio (RAPI), Wasuponda Military District Command, Wasuponda Police, SOS SAR, Pemuda Pancasila, Youth Organizations, Mori Dive Club, surrounding communities, and the families of the victims.
