Alexander Marwata Confirms that KPK's Coming to Papua to Check Luke Enembe is not a forced pick-up

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) cooperates with IDI to conduct a medical examination of Governor Lukas Enembe in Papua. This examination was carried out because the person concerned was often absent from the examination schedule for health reasons.

Deputy Chairman of the KPK Alexander Marwata said that before the health check took place, his party asked for help from the local government and the authorities to convey to the public the plan for the arrival of the KPK and IDI teams to Papua.

"Ask the regional apparatus to convey to the Papuan people that the KPK came to Papua to check LE's health (Lukas Enembe) and examine LE as a suspect and not to carry out a forced pick-up, once again not to carry out a forced pick-up", explained Alex at the KPK Building, Jakarta, Monday, October 24.

The results of this examination form the basis for future follow-up. According to Alex, the presence of the KPK in Papua is by the mandate of Article 113, Law Number 8 of 1981. If a suspect or witness who is summoned gives a proper and reasonable reason that he cannot come to the investigator conducting the examination, the investigator will come to his residence.

"Furthermore, the KPK ensures that law enforcement against LE continues by the provisions and laws and regulations by upholding the principles of carrying out the main tasks of the KPK, namely legal certainty, openness, accountability, public interest, proportionality, and upholding human rights", said Alex.

Lukas Enembe has been named a suspect by the KPK. However, the case against him has not been detailed.

Lukas will actually be questioned on Monday, September 26 at the KPK's building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta. However, the examination was not carried out because Lukas admitted he was sick and could not provide information.

Furthermore, the KPK will again make calls that have not been informed for sure. Lukas was asked to cooperate in fulfilling the summons of the KPK investigators because his statement was needed to make clear the allegations of corruption that occurred.
