Komnas HAM Finds CCTV at Point 16 of the Troubled Kanjuruhan Stadium

JAKARTA - The results of an investigation by the National Human Rights Commission (Komnas HAM) found that a surveillance camera or CCTV at point 16 of the Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency, East Java, had technical problems.

"The problem is that there is the elimination of the blank spot, we met with the technicians, there was a technical problem regarding CCTV at point 16 in the parking lot which showed a lion's head", said Commissioner for Monitoring/Investigation of Komnas HAM, Mohammad Choirul Anam, as quoted by ANTARA on Monday, October 24.

From the information obtained by Komnas HAM, the surveillance camera at point 16 had been in trouble for several days before the incident at the Kanjuruhan Stadium.

The technician had time to replace it but the installation had not been completed, especially regarding the synchronization of information technology (IT).

As a result, he said, on the D day the surveillance camera did not work optimally. Information in the field that Anam obtained from the TI recording from CCTV sometimes appears and records, but also disappears so that it does not record what happened.

"We were shown in detail by Kanjuruhan Stadium technicians, who from the beginning installed CCTV and carried out maintenance until now", he explained.

Regarding the CCTV in the lobby, Anam admitted to getting complete materials. Komnas HAM has seen it directly and seen it from end to end.

Previously, the Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Inspector General Dedi Prasetyo, stated that his party was still investigating the alleged deletion of CCTV footage at Kanjuruhan Stadium, Malang Regency during the riot that killed 135 people.

"Later, there will be experts who convey, including third parties who installed CCTV around the Kanjuruhan Stadium", said Dedi.

However, Dedi was not willing to convey the alleged cause of the deletion of the CCTV footage and asked to wait for an explanation from the IT expert regarding the deletion of the CCTV footage.
