DKI Governor Heru Budi Will Meet Metro Police Chief Until the Jaya Regional Commander Discusses Conditions Ahead of the General Election

JAKARTA - Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono will meet officials of the DKI Jakarta Regional Government Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) to discuss political conditions ahead of the 2024 General Election.

The Forkopimda leaders referred to by Heru are Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Fadil Imran, Jaya Regional Commander Major General Untung Budiharto, high-ranking officers in the Navy Main Base (Lantamal), Fleet Command I (Koarmabar), the Army Strategic Reserve Command (Kostrad).

This was stated by Heru at the DKI Jakarta City Hall on his first day of work after being sworn in at the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) office this morning.

"With the TNI-Polri, there are Forkopimda, Mr. Commander of the Military Region, Mr. Chief of the Regional Police, Lantamal, Armabar, Kostrad, and others, of course, I will talk to you ahead of time (before the election). Of course, he will go around to him to discuss", said Heru, Monday, October 17.

Heru said the DKI Provincial Government would work together to support the implementation of the 2024 General Election by referring to the General Elections Commission (KPU) and General Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) regulations.

"There are already arrangements for preparation, the KPU, Bawaslu, and the DKI provincial government do not run alone. The DKI provincial government must work together", he said.

Previously, the Minister of Home Affairs, Tito Karnavian, asked Heru Budi Hartono to support the 2024 Simultaneous Election process while he was the head of the regional government in DKI.

According to Tito, this is necessary considering that Jakarta is the center of politics as well as economists so that regional conditions at the election stage are maintained.

"Jakarta is the nerve center, the center, the political economy of Indonesia. At the same time, of course, officials are preparing to support the 2024 Simultaneous General Election and Regional Head Elections", said Tito at the Ministry of Home Affairs office, Central Jakarta, Monday, October 17.

In addition, Tito also asked Heru and other newly appointed regional heads to prepare for various global crises, such as food, energy, financial, security, and political crises.

Tito also hopes that Heru will carry out his duties to lead Jakarta as well as possible. Given, Jakarta has a variety of problems that are quite complex.

Based on his experience of holding several positions within the DKI Provincial Government before serving as Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Tito believes Heru can carry out his current duties well.
