Ministry Of Health Forms Investigation Team For Mysterious Acute Kidney

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health has formed a team to investigate cases of mysterious acute kidney disorders in children in Indonesia to uncover and handle cases.

"The Ministry of Health has formed a team consisting of the Indonesian Pediatrician Association (IDAI) and the Ciptomangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM) to investigate and treat cases of mysterious acute kidney disorders," said the Head of the Communications and Public Service Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Siti Nadia, as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, 13 October.

Based on the Ministry of Health's records, there were three additional cases as of October 3, 2022, bringing the total number of patients still in the process of being treated at this time to 40 children aged under five to eight years.

The Directorate General of Health Services (Dirjen Yankes) of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia has issued the Decree of the Director General of Yankes number HK.02.92/I/3305/2022 concerning Management and Clinical Management of Atypical Progressive Acute Kidney Disorders.

"The results of the laboratory examination of the Health Development Policy Agency (BKPK), so far no specific bacteria or viruses have been found," she said.

The results of discussions with a team from Gambia, Africa, who had a similar case regarding allegations towards the consumption of drugs containing ethylene glycol, said Nadia, still needed further research.

"But this needs further research, because it is not detected in the blood," she said.

The Ministry of Health is currently coordinating with experts from the World Health Organization (WHO) who are conducting case investigations in The Gambia to find out the results of the investigation.
