BMKG Analysis: South Jakarta And East Jakarta Potential Flood Today!

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) said that two areas of DKI; South Jakarta and East Jakarta are wary of experiencing flooding today.

This is based on data analysis from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) with a pump based force (IBF) and BNPB with InaRisk.

"We need to be aware of the potential for flooding on October 13, 2022, in the DKI Jakarta area in southern Jakarta and East Jakarta," wrote the BNPB statement on Thursday, October 13.

In addition, BNPB also noted that there are eight other areas that have the potential for flooding, namely West Java in Bogor, Cirebon, Ciamis; Central Java in Cilacap, Banyumas, Semarang City, Kendal, Pekalongan, Tegal; and East Java in Sidoarjo.

"These areas are the top 10 areas with the highest historical flood levels based on Indonesia's disaster information data," wrote BNPB.

BNPB asked local governments to take steps to anticipate and be prepared to monitor the current conditions in the field and disseminate information on warnings of rainfall and water level, as well as potential risks for inundation areas.

Then, coordinate with stakeholders in mobilizing disaster preparedness and resources teams, prepare refugee camps including evacuation infrastructure according to health protocols, prepare logistics and equipment needs, and help evacuate vulnerable groups.

To the community, BNPB asked to monitor the current conditions in the field, coordinate with village officials, prepare evacuations); save important items to a safe place; also limit activities outside the home.

"If you are outside the house, avoid large trees, billboards, and water channels. Prepare standby bags containing food, drinks, medicine, money, clothes, valuable documents etc.; evacuate vulnerable groups; and continue to do 3M," he added.
