PANDEGLANG - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of Pandeglang Regency noted that dozens of houses in two villages in the Sumur Sub-district were flooded due to the overflowing of the Cipendeuy River.

One meter-high overflow of the Cipendeuy River submerged 10 houses with 30 inhabitants in Pendeuy Village and 6 houses with 26 inhabitants in Fisherman's Village.

"Fortunately, the flood did not cause any casualties or injuries", said the Head of the Pandeglang Regency BPBD Emergency and Logistics Section, Lilis Sulistiyati, in Pandeglang, Banten, quoted from Antara, Friday, October 7.

The flood disaster that hit residential areas in Sumur District occurred on Thursday, October 6 after heavy rainfall hit Pandeglang.

Now residents affected by the floods in Pandeglang, said Lilis, have returned to their homes after the flood receded.

However, BPBD Pandeglang asked people living on the banks of the Cipendeuy River to remain vigilant. Lilis said aftershocks can occur in Pandeglang.

Currently, he said, the potential for bad weather in the border area of the Ujung Kulon National Park (NTUK) has the potential to cause natural disasters.

"We ask residents to be vigilant against heavy rain accompanied by lightning and strong winds", she said.

Responding to this natural disaster, Lilis said BPBD Pandeglang with the Social Service established a health service post. The command post stands to prevent infectious diseases from occurring after the flood experienced by residents.

"We are now fully prepared to face bad weather that has the potential to cause natural disasters, such as floods, landslides, seawater tidal flooding, cyclones, and high waves", she said.
