JAKARTA - The Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture (PMK) stated that repairs had been made to the Tsanawiyah State Madrasah (MTsN) 19 building, Pondok Labu, South Jakarta, whose walls collapsed on Thursday, October 7.

PMK Coordinating Minister Muhadjir Effendy said the renovation did not interfere with learning.

"We'll try not, because the madrasa in terms of government is an absolute government matter, not a concurrent one," said Muhadjir when met in Jakarta, quoted from Antara, Friday, October 7.

Muhadjir explained that the purpose of the government is absolute, namely the existence of authority under the Ministry of Religion, so it needs to be coordinated again with the relevant directorate general and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government.

His party also strives to rebuild MTsN 19 because this school is a favorite in the area because there are many enthusiasts, but only 180 students receive it.

In addition, the reason is that he intends to fix the school building because the area is in the form of a basin so that water flow from various directions is easy to enter the area.

Muhadjir said that the MTsN 19 Jakarta building had been quite old since 1997 so that it was the right time to fix it.

"There is land in the DKI Government next door, maybe we can negotiate it so that this narrow land can be expanded," he said.

Regarding in the future, Muhadjir said the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) would follow up to overcome flooding in the school building area.

"This means that we will not allow this but we will complete it thoroughly, in an integrated manner related to the very strategic function of this school," he said.

Muhadjir conveyed his condolences to the family and those closest to the victims of the collapse of the 19th MTsN wall in South Jakarta.
