JAKARTA - First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and members of the Solidarity Action Organization for the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet Era (OASE KIM) planted Kesambi trees on Rinca Island, Komodo National Park (TNK), West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).

"I and the OASE women saw Komodo dragons on Rinca Island today. Today we saw three Komodo dragons, but today not only saw Komodo dragons but also planted Kesambi trees", said Iriana after planting the trees, as quoted by ANTARA from a written statement from the Presidential Secretariat, Thursday, September 29.

The tree planting activity was carried out at the Niang Komodo Information Center Point, Loh Buaya, Rinca Island, Komodo National Park (TNK), West Manggarai Regency.

Iriana also advised all parties to protect and maintain the habitat of the Komodo dragon, which is one of Indonesia's endemic animals.

"I hope that Rinca Island is always maintained and also protects the environment", said Iriana.

Meanwhile, the wife of the Deputy Minister of Environment and Forestry, Lilia Alue Dohong, on a separate occasion said that the tree planting activities carried out by Iriana and members of the KIM OASE can support the survival of the Komodo dragon.

"Of course, the hope is because this is a feed enrichment, of course, the intention is to be able to become food for the survival of the Komodo dragons on Rinca Island", she said.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), Bambang Hendroyono, assessed that the tree planting activity by Iriana and OASE KIM is a continuous effort in restoring the environment and preserving the Komodo dragon.

“With today's activities, we can see the sustainability of environmental restoration. It is also related to the existence of this Komodo dragon which must be protected", he said.

Iriana and members of OASE KIM arrived on Rinca Island, KNP, Thursday, after traveling by sea using the Pinisi boat Ayana Lako Di'a about two hours from Labuan Bajo Marina Pier.

Iriana together with OASE KIM members visited the Rinca Island area on foot. During the trip, Ma'am Iriana and the members of OASE KIM also saw the condition of Rinca Island and several Komodo dragons in the area.

OASE KIM is a special organization initiated by Iriana and Wury Estu Ma'ruf Amin, the wife of Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, and was agreed upon by the assistant ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet.

OASE KIM was formed to support and play a role in the success of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet program by its capacity as a facilitator.
