Anies Issues Gubernatorial Regulation On RDTR, Island G Reclamation Directed For Residential Areas

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan issued Governor Regulation Number 31 of 2022 concerning Detailed Spatial Planning of the DKI Jakarta Planning Area.

One of the regional plans regulated in this new regulation is to set the reclamation area of ​​Island G into a threshold zone. In this zone, Island G is directed to residential areas.

"The G Island Reclamation Area is directed to residential areas," reads Article 192 paragraph (2) of the Governor's Regulation Number 31 of 2022.

In addition to Island G, a number of areas are also designated as threshold zones, namely the Ancol expansion area, the Rorotan area as a reserve area, and the area behind the NCICD.

There are two criteria in the threshold zone. First, the area with the criteria for land expansion, reclamation, reserve land, emergent land or the area behind the National Capital Integrated Coastal Development (NCICD) embankment whose spatial use has not been determined.

Second, areas with criteria for land expansion or reclamation that have obtained approval for the implementation of reclamation from the minister of government affairs in the marine and fishery sector.

The Head of the DKI Jakarta Cipta Karya, Spatial Planning and Land Office, Heru Hermawanto, explained about Island G which was directed for settlements. According to him, an area that is designated as a threshold zone has not yet received a definite designation.

However, the DKI Provincial Government has proposed Island G to be a residential area for residents.

"It's directed, right. But because it's a threshold zone, you can be free. You can be directed there. We prioritize if settlements are allowed, we ask for it," Heru told reporters, Wednesday, September 21.

Heru said that the reason Anies directed G Island to be a residential area was that there were still many people's needs for housing in Jakarta.

However, the certainty of the designation of Island G will still have to be determined through a regional regulation regarding the regional spatial plan (RTRW) which is discussed with the DKI Jakarta DPRD.

"The details depend on the regional regulations. The regional regulations will determine later," said Heru.
