Jokowi Wants Less Year-end Holidays, Many Hotels Are Full Until December

This year's long holiday coincides with the national holiday of Christmas Day, December 25, 2020 and holidays in lieu of Eid Al-Fitr and New Year holidays 1 January 2021. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy / Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Wishnutama Kusubandio said hotels in the Benoa area have even reached 80 percent occupancy by December. Of course this number will continue to grow.

"Several hotels in Benoa have booked 80 percent occupancy rate until December. In Nusa Dua 40 percent has actually been stretched. The fact that the hotel occupancy has increased, said Wishnutama, shows that Indonesian tourism is quite promising amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This of course raises hope for tourism actors.

Wishnutama hopes that the government will consider not cutting back the year-end long holiday. Because, this can help tourism players rise from the pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Christmas and New Year 2020 holidays will initially be combined with Eid Al-Fitr leave which will be shifted to the end of the year on 28-31 December 2020. The Christmas holidays themselves fall on 24-25 December.

Then, the holidays will still be added to the red date on January 1, 2021. Jokowi ordered that the provisions regarding the year-end long holiday be discussed further in the coordination meeting of the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (PMK).

"In particular, we will discuss the long holiday which will also be in December. This will be discussed later in today's meeting specifically," said Jokowi.
