KPK Confirms It Has Evidence Of Alleged Corruption, Central Mamberamo Regent

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that the alleged corruption in the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church which ensnared the inactive Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng will continue to be investigated. Investigators have held evidence of the fraudulent practices he committed.

"We are investigating the case, of course, because there is strong preliminary evidence as stipulated by law," said Head of the KPK News Section, Ali Fikri, to reporters in a written statement, Monday, September 19.

It did not specify what evidence the investigators had. Ali only said that all the facts, in this case, would be revealed when the trial later.

"We will solve it thoroughly and immediately bring it to court to be tested before a panel of judges in the court of corruption," he said.

Furthermore, the KPK ensures that the case against Eltinus is purely law enforcement. Ali stated that the investigation into the alleged corruption would be carried out in a professional manner.

Moreover, this case was tested in the South Jakarta District Court (PN) when Eltinus filed a pretrial. As a result, the panel of judges rejected the lawsuit filed by Eltinus.

"We make sure that the investigation of this case is carried out professionally. Every legal procedure we have gone through has even been tested in pre-trial at the South Jakarta District Court," he said.

As previously reported, Mimika Regent Eltinus Omaleng was officially detained by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) after being forcibly picked up. He is a suspect in the alleged corruption in the construction of the Kingmi Mile 32 Church in Mimika Regency, Papua.

Apart from Eltinus, there are two other suspects who have been named by the KPK but have not been arrested. They are the Head of the Welfare Section of the Mimika Regency Secretariat who is the official commitment maker (PPK) Marthen Sawy and the Director of PT Waringin Megah (WM), Teguh Anggara.

In this case, the KPK suspects that there is a discrepancy, including the timeframe of the work when the church was built. In addition, there has been a shortage of work volume even though payments have been made. This resulted in state financial losses of up to tens of billions of rupiah.

"As a result of the actions of the suspects, it resulted in state financial losses of at least around IDR 21.6 billion of the contract value of IDR 46 billion," said KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri at a press conference at the KPK's Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, September 8.

Firli said the actions of the suspects had violated Presidential Regulation Number 54 of 2010 concerning the procurement of government goods and services.

Moreover, in the process, there have been various arrangements by Eltinus. One of them directly appointed PT Waringin Megah led by Teguh Anggara.

From this appointment, it is suspected that there was an agreement to provide a fee of 10 percent, of which 7 percent was for Eltinus and 3 percent for Teguh.

In addition, it is suspected that there is a subcontractor from another company, namely PT Kuala Persada Papua Nusantara (KPPN) who works without a contract agreement. Eltinus said the KPK also received around IDR 4.4 billion in money in this case.
