PBNU And The Minister Of Islamic Affairs Of Saudi Arabia Want To Cooperate On Terrorism

JAKARTA - General Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board, KH Yahya Cholil Staquf or familiarly called Gus Yahya, and the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Da'wah, and Saudi Arabia's counseling discussed cooperation in dealing with terrorism to realize world peace.

The discussion of the cooperation efforts was carried out when Gus Yahya and his entourage visited the residence of the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Da'wah, and Saudi Arabia Counseling Sheikh Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh in Nursultan, Kazakhstan, on the sidelines of the activities of the World Leaders Congress and Traditional Religion which was attended by more than 100 religious leaders or leaders from 60 countries with the last meeting held in Nursultan.

"NU is seriously working with the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to achieve a consensus to develop a better future between the Muslim community, society, and countries in the world through substantial and sustainable solutions to terrorism and extremism problems", said Gus Yahya, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, September 17.

Furthermore, in front of Sheikh Abdul Latif, Gus Yahya emphasized that fanatical groups, terrorists, and extremists are not only limited to Muslim communities and the Islamic world but also extend to all mankind and the world. Thus, he continued, everyone is responsible for jointly finding solutions to these things.

Gus Yahya also expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Da'wah, and Saudi Arabia's counseling under the leadership of Sheikh Abdul Lathif bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh in spreading religious moderation and fighting extremism.

He considered the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia the most important country in the Islamic world today because they dedicate positive things to the world community. Therefore, Gus Yahya showed the seriousness of NU to learn from the experience of the Ministry of Islamic Affairs of Saudi Arabia in spreading religious moderation and fighting extremism and terrorism.

"Therefore, Nahdlatul Ulama is interested in establishing positive and constructive cooperation with the Saudi Arabian government for the good of the Indonesian people", he said.

On the same occasion, Sheikh Abdul Latif bin Abdul Aziz Al-Sheikh conveyed various forms of the seriousness of the Saudi Arabian government in realizing security, peace, and common interests of all people in the world. Among other things, he stressed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is fighting terrorism firmly and seriously as part of the government's commitment to spreading religious moderation.

"The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is like a head for the Islamic body, targeting it means targeting all Muslims in the world", he said.
