KALTIM - The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) of East Kalimantan Province (Kaltim) has dispatched a rapid reaction team (TRC) to help the people of Mahakam Ulu Regency who have been affected by floods.

The Chief Executive of the East Kalimantan BPBD, H.M. Agus Hari Kesuma, said that his team dispatched a team to the disaster site as well as bringing logistical assistance to flood victims.

"Alhamdulillah, the East Kalimantan Provincial Government was present when the Mahakam Ulu community was affected by the big flood. So, we helped with logistics for the affected people," said Agus Hari Kesuma in Samarinda, East Kalimantan, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, September 13.

He said the assistance provided was proof of the local government's attitude and response to the calamities experienced by the community.

It is hoped that the assistance will be put to good use according to the needs of the Mahakam Ulu community and its surroundings.

"The distribution of logistical assistance was conveyed to the Mahakam Ulu and West Kutai Regency Governments," he said.

The aid distributed was in the form of 70 bags of 5 kg rice, 70 boxes of instant noodles, 70 packs of 1 liter cooking oil, 70 boxes of baby food porridge, 70 boxes of infant formula, and 40 packages of school packages.

The release of the TRC group on Monday 12 September, at the East Kalimantan BPBD Office, M.T. Haryono Street, Samarinda.

The flood disaster in the youngest district of East Kalimantan Province occurred in mid-August 2022. This disaster affected the community in three villages, namely Kampung Long Penaneh 1, Long Penaneh 2, and Kampung Long Apari.

The high intensity of rainfall in Mahulu poses a threat to a number of settlements in West Kutai, due to consignment flooding. This is considering the position of Kubar under Mahulu Regency. So far, if there is a flood in Mahulu, it will have an impact on settlements in Kubar.
