KLHK Says G20 Members Praise Indonesia For Pushing Sea-Based Action Initiatives

JAKARTA - Director General of Climate Change Control (PPI) of the Ministry of Forestry and Environment, Laksmi Dwanthi, said G20 members appreciated Indonesia's G20 Presidency for carrying out sea-based actions to support environmental protection and tackle climate change.

In a virtual discussion on the Climate Corner followed in Jakarta, Director General of PPI of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) Laksmi said that G20 countries appreciate the initiative of the Indonesian Presidency to introduce collaborative sea-based actions to support climate change adaptation and mitigation.

"This initiative will continue to be carried out by Indonesia", explained Laksmi in a discussion discussing the results of the G20 Environment and Climate Ministers Meeting in Bali at the end of August 2022.

Not only stopping at the G20, but the plan is also for a workshop related to sea-based action to be held by Indonesia for the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference or COP-27 to be held in Egypt in November 2022.

She explained that in the Environment Deputies Meeting and Climate Sustainability Working Group (EDM-CSWG) and/or Joint Environment and Climate Ministers' Meeting (JECMM) three issues were raised.

The three issues are supporting sustainable recovery, increasing land and sea-based actions to support environmental protection and climate change control objectives, and increasing resource mobilization.

"The Joint Environment and Climate Minister's Meeting is the first step and a new step for Indonesia and also for the G20 countries to show the world that we continue to make or continue to lead for concrete efforts in the environmental agenda and climate change control", Laksmi said as quoted by Antara.
