JAKARTA - Iran launched a large-scale drone exercise on Wednesday, aiming to conduct a series of tests on various capabilities of domestically made drones.

Deputy Commander of the Iranian Armed Forces for Coordination, Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, said the capabilities that will be tested and evaluated this time include weapons accuracy and strength, guidance and control system capabilities, and combat capabilities.

"This is the first time a joint drone exercise has been carried out at the level of four forces of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran and a joint air defense base of the country," he explained, quoted from Farsnews, August 25.

Admiral Sayyari continued, this is only part of the drone force of the Iranian Armed Forces, which carries out operations in various reconnaissance, surveillance and combat missions. This exercise was attended by 150 units of new and advanced drones.

He added that the exercise covered all areas of Iran, from the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman in the South, to the North and Central parts of the country.

It is known, Iranian military experts and technicians have made great progress in recent years, in the manufacture of various domestic equipment, making the armed forces independent in the field of weapons.

Last April, Iran unveiled a number of new drones and domestically made missiles, during the National Army Day parade.

One of the main achievements showcased during the parade was the new generation of Ababil multirole unmanned aerial vehicles, named Ababil-5.

The Iranian Armed Forces also launched the Fath 360 and Labeik surface-to-surface missiles, as well as the Dezful and Majid air defense systems.
