Although Not From The Military, KSAL Says Megawati Cares For The TNI

JAKARTA - The Chief of Staff of the Navy (KSAL), Admiral Yudo Margono, said the 5th President of the Republic of Indonesia Megawati Soekarnoputri had concern and concern for the TNI, especially the Navy. In fact, Megawati does not come from a military family.

This was conveyed by Admiral Yudo when welcoming Megawati, who was the keynote speaker for Napak Tilas Ratu Kalinyamat, a Maritime Hero of the Archipelago, which was held today, Thursday, August 11.

Initially, Yudo invited Megawati and other guests who were present to go to KRI Dewa Ruci which was docked at Kolinlamil Pier, Tanjung Priok. The PDIP General Chair was accompanied by the PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto. Also present was Deputy Chairperson of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR), Lestari Moerdijati.

In his remarks, Yudo thanked Megawati for having returned to the Indonesian National Army Navy (TNI AL). Moreover, Megawati is now aboard the warship KRI Dewaruci.

"Welcome and thank you for the willingness of Mrs. Prof. Dr. HC Megawati Soekarnoputri who fulfilled our invitation as a keynote speaker in this talk show. Previously, you were present in the midst of the Jasena soldiers, today you are back even on a proud warship us, KRI Dewaruci", said Admiral Yudo as quoted from his written statement.

Yudo said Megawati had always paid great attention to building military strength. In fact, because of this, KRI Dewaruci can still be useful for the country.

"For the Navy, this KRI Dewaruci is thanks to her great service, if it wasn't for Megawati's great care and service, this ship would have become a museum", he said.

Through Megawati's struggle, Yudo said that the 69-year-old KRI Dewaruci still exists and has even become the pride of Indonesia. From this ship, he continued, many naval leaders and brave soldiers.

Megawati is planned to be a speaker at the Napak Tilas Ratu Kalinyamat Nusantara Maritime Hero talk show with speakers: Head of the Navy History Service (Kadisjarah), Admiral TNI Eko Gajah Seno, military observer Dr. Connie Rahakundini Bakri, Undip Semarang History Lecturer, Dr. Alamsyah and Professor of Sunan Kalijaga State Islamic University, Prof. Ratno Lukito.

Also attending this event, other guests were Admiral TNI Bernard Kent Sondakh, Sujiwo Tejo (Culture), Head of the National Library, and Head of the National Archives of the Republic of Indonesia (ANRI).

To note, Queen Kalinyamat is one of the daughters of King Demak Trenggana (1521-1546). She is the queen of the Kalinyamat Kingdom in Jepara. Queen Kalinyamat was the only female king in the 16th century who was brave and succeeded in building a large and strong Navy force.

Queen Kalinyamat has an important role in the history of the struggle of the Indonesian people against the Portuguese in the XV century.
