Climbing Mount Panarlaban Malaysia, 51-year-old Man Who Fainted During Rest Is Declared Dead

JAKARTA - A middle-aged man died while on the 3.2 kilometer hiking trail of Mount Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia, Sunday, August 7.

According to the Berita Harian report, the 51-year-old victim from Sarawak was climbing towards Panarlaban telling the mountain rangers he wanted to rest before suddenly collapsing.

Mountain rangers reported the incident to Sabah Parks (TTS) staff at around 13:00 local time. Before finally, contact the fire department.

Based on Antara's report, a spokesman for the Operations Movement Center (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) added they received a call about the incident at 1:23 p.m. local time.

He said the initial action of the Mount Kinabalu SAR team (MOSAR), TTS staff and mountain rangers provided respiratory assistance (CPR).

“The victim was then brought down to Timtree Gate using a Robertson Stretcher. However, the victim was confirmed dead by medical officers from the Ministry of Health (KKM)," he said.

He said the victim's body was then handed over to the police for further action.

"The operation ended at 4.30 this afternoon (at 15.30 WIB)," he said.
