Save Local Culture, Disdik Sends 1,000 Jayawijaya Language Books To Schools

JAKARTA - The Education Office of Jayawijaya Regency, Papua brought 1,000 regional language books to support the implementation of local content in the Jayawijaya language in schools.

Secretary of the Jayawijaya Education Office, Bambang Budiandoyo, said the total number of books that must be prepared is 4,500 copies.

"We have received 1,000 books, we are just waiting for 3,500 books, so a total of 4,500 copies", said Bambang, Friday, August 5, quoted from Antara.

The agency plans to distribute it to all elementary schools (SD) and PAUD by the end of this month so that it can be used before the end of this month.

"For each elementary school, maybe we will give 24 packages of books for each elementary school, maybe 25 books for TK or PAUD (kindergarten), for stimulants", he said.

Because this is the first time this local language content has been carried out, the local government agreed to teach it to early childhood and elementary school students.

"There are 124 elementary schools in Jayawijaya, 53 active kindergartens. Learning from there (books) and the teachers have been prepared", he said.

The local content of this regional language is an effort by the local government to save the local culture or language which is increasingly being eroded and lost.
