BNPB: Central Sulawesi Parigi Moutong Flash Flood Reaches 1.5 Meters Of Water

JAKARTA - The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) stated that the flash flood in Torue Village, Parigi Moutong Regency, Central Sulawesi on Friday (29/7) reached a water level of 150 cm.

"The flood height was between 30 and 90 cm based on the BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) report, but we saw directly with the Head of BNPB yesterday that the water level was even up to 150 cm," said Acting Head of the BNPB Disaster Data, Information and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari was reported by ANTARA, Monday, August 1.

As a result, he said, flash floods in Torue Village caused nine houses to be heavily damaged, and 450 houses were affected by being submerged.

In addition, the flash flood had an impact on two units of public facilities, five units of educational facilities and several other public facilities and social facilities.

Flash floods in Torue Village also claimed lives. There are three victims who have been found.

However, there are four more residents who are still missing due to being swept away by flash floods. BNPB expects them to be found.

"Of course we hope to be found soon, our hope is alive. But if it's the other way around, the important thing is that we know what the status is," said Abdul Muhari.
