Mardani Maming's Bribe Turns Out To Be Dead

JAKARTA - The former regent of Tanah Bumbu, South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Mardani H. Maming has become the sole suspect in the alleged bribery case and mining license gratification (IUP). This is because the briber was already dead.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Chairman of the KPK Alexander Marwata when announcing Mardani Maming as a suspect in receiving bribes. Officially, the KPK has just named the General Treasurer of the inactive Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) as a suspect today.

"In the exposure, it turns out that the giver Hendry Soetio (controller of PT Prolindo Cipta Nusantara or PCN) has died. So the giver has died," said Alexander at a press conference at the KPK Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, July 28.

Even so, the KPK remains confident that it can investigate this case. Alexander said his party already had the evidence.

"And this case actually has a wedge with the case handled by the Attorney General regarding the head of the mining and energy service," he said.

Previously, Mardani Maming was detained for the first 20 days after wearing an orange vest. He was named a suspect for allegedly receiving money amounting to Rp104.3 billion.

Not only that, he also created a fictitious company, namely PT Angsana Terminal Utama (ATU), which monopolized the management of ports that support mining operational activities. The composition of the board of directors and shareholders is still affiliated and managed by his family.

As a result of his actions, Mardani was then suspected of violating Article 12 letter a or Article 12 letter b or Article 11 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law -Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption in conjunction with Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
