Infiltration Wells Are Still A Solution For Jakarta Flood Management, 100 Points Will Be Constructed In South Jakarta

JAKARTA - The City Government (Pemkot) of South Jakarta (South Jakarta) will build 100 infiltration wells to accelerate the process of water loss when inundation or flooding occurs in the area.

"The target is at least 100 infiltration wells," said South Jakarta Water Resources Sub-department (Kasi) Maintenance Section Head, Junjung, when contacted Tuesday, July 19.

Junjung said that until now the process of making infiltration wells was carried out by other service providers, individuals (PJLP) SDA and so far, around 20 infiltration wells have been made in the South Jakarta area.

Previously, the Natural Resources Service had made more than 2000 points in 2021.

Infiltration wells are made in two ways, namely excavated and drilled using two drill units.

Junjung said, to make infiltration wells, residents are required to make a request report and his party will conduct a survey so that it can only be followed up.

The survey includes looking at the condition of the land, the contours of the land, up to a sufficient number to build a number of points.

"Usually we see the condition of the land, the contours of the land and how large the catchment area is, so we can only know the sufficient number of points," he said, according to Antara.

Junjung has not detailed the budget prepared for the construction of the 100 infiltration wells, including the source.
