Preventing Disorientation, Head Of BNPT: Future Generations Will Not Understand Their Own Nation

JAKARTA - Head of the National Counter-Terrorism Agency (BNPT) Police Commissioner General Boy Rafli Amar said that the spirit of nationalism and the spirit of the younger generation must be maintained so that they do not become disorientated in the midst of the threat of radicalism and terrorism.

"We must maintain the national spirit of the younger generation so that they do not become a generation of national disorientation. We are worried that if left unchecked, future generations will not understand their own nation," said Boy in his written statement, quoted from Antara, Friday, July 15.

He invited community leaders, religious leaders, including village officials to play a role in strengthening the synergy of early detection of the spread of radicalism and terrorism to the younger generation.

Boy conveyed this at the Gathering and National Dialogue in the Context of Preventing Radical Terrorism at Graha Pancasila, Batu Mayor's Office Complex, East Java.

The activity was attended by community leaders, interfaith leaders, and believers in beliefs, as well as sub-district and village officials throughout Batu City.

The national dialogue is a gathering between BNPT and religious leaders, community, youth, and women, as a means to share and be aware of the spread of radicalism and terrorism.

With this activity, BNPT hopes that the participants will better understand the characteristics of the ideology of terrorism, including anti-constitution, state ideology, exclusivism, radical intolerance, as well as anti-human values, and the tendency to justify violence.

"Today's meeting, as usual, we traveled everywhere because our job was to remind. The main priority of BNPT's task is how to build a spirit of mitigation against acts of terrorism that started with intolerance and radicalism can be minimized, even if necessary removed from the land of the Republic of Indonesia," he said.
