Hundreds Of Sacrificial Animals In South Jakarta Contain Tapeworms

JAKARTA – As many as 400 sacrificial animals slaughtered on Eid al-Adha, Sunday 10 July, contain tapeworms. Even of the hundreds of animals, there are animals that have pneumonia.

"The results of the postmortem examination were 440 animals were examined. Provisional diagnoses were 270 tapeworms and 170 pneumonia," said South Jakarta Head of the South Jakarta Food, Maritime, and Agricultural Food Security Sub-Department, Hasudungan, as reported by Antara, Monday, July 11.

Hasudungan said the findings of the provisional diagnosis made the officers have to destroy the organs of animals that mostly attack the liver.

This extermination activity is of course so that the meat that is distributed to the community is of really good quality and is not attacked by foot and mouth disease (FMD).

According to Hasudungan, the total number of animals slaughtered in 10 sub-districts of South Jakarta totaled 6,710 consisting of 1,927 cows, 43 buffaloes, 4,746 goats, and 677 sheep.

Meanwhile, for the number of sacrificial animal shelters (TPHK) there are 289 locations that have been scattered and inspected in various sub-districts of South Jakarta.

"The sacrificial animal shelters (TPHK) that have been inspected include proper slaughtering equipment, separate packaging of meat and offal, and implementing personal hygiene," he said.

The South Jakarta City Government has also deployed 540 certified and uncertified halal slaughterers, including four people who have received training and 1,037 people who have not. As for the committee in charge of 12,691 people.
