JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave one cow weighing 850 kg for sacrifice on Eid al-Adha 1443 Hijri to Maluku residents.

Maluku Governor Murad Ismail handed over Ongole's cattle from the President to the Al Fatah Grand Mosque Imam RR Hasanussi in Ambon, Thursday, July 7.

"Hopefully Allah SWT will give the President a great reward and give protection to our nation so that the development process goes well," said Imam of the Al Fatah Grand Mosque RR Hasanussi.

The governor also handed over 800 kg of Limousin cattle for sacrifices to the committee on Eid al-Adha at the Hasan Sulaiman Mosque, Hila Country, Leihitu, Central Maluku.

He revealed that the slaughter of sacrificial animals on Eid al-Adha was intended to commemorate the compliance of Prophet Ibrahim when he was ordered to slaughter his son Prophet Ismail.

"The sacrificial worship is not only to meet consumption needs, but more than that it contains great wisdom and meaning in our lives as humans," he said.

He invited Muslims to imitate the obedience of Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail in carrying out Allah's commands.

"Be a figure of Prophet Ismail who dared to sacrifice because of his strength in faith and devotion to his parents," he said.
