JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has resumed the tradition of sacrificing cows in 34 provinces to commemorate Eid al-Adha 1443H which falls on Sunday, July 10, 2022.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Heru Budi Hartono, said that President Jokowi's sacrificial cows weigh between 800 kilograms and more than 1 ton.

"As for the mosques that will receive the sacrificial cows from the President's assistance, it is determined by the governors of each province," said Heru, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, July 5.

One of the President's sacrificial cows with the largest weight is in Bengkulu, which weighs 1.4 tons and according to the local government it will be slaughtered at one of the mosques in Kaur Regency.

Meanwhile, Heru emphasized that the Presidential Secretariat continues to cooperate with the Director General of Livestock and Animal Health of the Ministry of Agriculture to ensure that all cows offered by President Jokowi are in good health, especially not exposed to the mouth and nail disease (PMK).

The Ministry of Religion recently issued Number 10/2022 concerning the Implementation of Eid Prayers and the Implementation of Sacrifice 1443 Hijriah/2022 AD in the midst of the FMD outbreak in order to provide a sense of security to the community.

Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas appealed that the sacrifice has a sunnah muakkadah law, but Muslims are advised not to force themselves to sacrifice during the FMD epidemic.

The Minister of Religion also appealed to Muslims to buy sacrificial animals that were healthy and without defects according to the criteria, and to keep them in good health until the day of slaughter.

For Muslims who intend to make sacrifices and are in outbreak areas or the outermost areas and areas suspected of PMK, the Minister of Religion appealed to slaughter at Slaughterhouses (RPH).
