DENPASAR - A 13-meter tall kapok tree fell and killed one motorcyclist, I Gusti Putu Nusa Indra Negara (34). The incident occurred on Gunung Soputan Street, West Denpasar.

"The fallen tree resulted in the death of a man and hit several two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles. The type of tree that fell was a kapok tree with a height of fewer than 13 meters and a diameter of 60 cm", said the Head of Public Relations of Denpasar Police, Iptu Ketut Sukadi, Tuesday, 5 July.

The victim died of injuries to his head and face. Meanwhile, the four vehicles hit by the fallen tree were Pajero, Honda Vario, Yamaha Aerox, and Suzuki Shogun.

Pajero driver Kevin Ryantho said the tree suddenly fell at around 13.50 WITA when he was crossing Gunung Soputan Street.

Meanwhile, the victims who died have been evacuated to Sanglah Hospital, Denpasar.

"The fallen tree of this type of Randu stands and grows on Mr. Pegeg's land and the condition of the tree has rotted at the roots", said Sukadi.
