JAKARTA - The implementation of Level 2 Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) is applied to a number of areas in Greater Jakarta which are experiencing an increasing trend of COVID-19 cases.

"The indicators for measuring Level 2 PPKM are transmission in the community, increase in cases, hospitalization, and mortality," said Ministry of Health spokesman Mohammad Syahril when contacted, Tuesday, July 5.

The implementation of Level 2 PPKM in Jabodetabek covers the entire DKI Jakarta Province. Meanwhile, in Banten Province, it includes Tangerang City, South Tangerang City, and Tangerang Regency. The rest are Level 1.

Level 2 PPKM in West Java Province covers Bogor Regency, Depok City, and Bekasi Regency. The rest are Level 1, said Syahril.

Syahril said that the implementation of Level 2 PPKM in a number of Jabodetabek areas was motivated by community transmission which showed an increasing trend in the last few days.

"The positivity rate has increased, for example in DKI Jakarta between 8 to 9 percent from the World Health Organization (WHO) standard of 5 percent. That's what makes them enter Level 2," said Syahril as quoted by Antara.

Syahril said that all provinces outside of that were still with Level 1 PPKM status until Tuesday afternoon.

The Task Force (Satgas) for Handling COVID-19 reported that the daily rate of confirmed cases of positive COVID-19 in Indonesia increased by 1.434 people as of Monday (4/6) with the most cases in DKI Jakarta being 737 cases.

Other provinces that also contributed to the rate of confirmed cases at the national level were West Java with 255 cases and Banten with 179 cases with a daily death rate of nine people. Among them came from DKI Jakarta and West Java, each three people.
