PENAJAM - The inactive regent of North Penajam Paser, East Kalimantan, Abdul Gafur Mas'ud, a defendant in a bribery case in the procurement of goods and services as well as permits has not returned three luxury official cars.
"There are several official cars that have not been returned by the regent who has been deactivated", said the Head of Asset Management Division of the Regional Financial and Assets Agency (BKAD) of North Penajam Paser Regency, Denny Handayansyah at Penajam, Antara, Wednesday, June 29.
Administratively, according to him, several official cars should have been returned to the district government. "The four-wheeled service vehicles provided to support the performance as regional heads are the Toyota Alphard, Fortuner, and Land Cruiser", he said.
BKAD attempted to withdraw assets belonging to the district government after Abdul Gafur Mas'ud was exposed to OTT (hand arrest operation) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) on 12 January 2022.
So far, BKAD has not been able to withdraw the official car used for the regional head's operational vehicle, because there was a refusal from the family of Abdul Gafur Mas'ud.
Even the existence of luxury cars is not known.
Currently, BKAD is coordinating with law enforcement officials to retrieve assets belonging to the North Penajam Paser Regency Government.
"We have tried and have come to the house to pull the official car but the family refuses. The reason is that waiting for a legal decision is already inkrah (permanent legal force)", he said.

"We can't take it by force because we don't know where the official car is and there must be a legal force letter. We are currently coordinating and consulting with law enforcement officials and the provincial KPK", explained Denny Handayansyah.
