Long Holiday, 30,470 Train Passengers Departing From Jakarta To Several Destinations

JAKARTA - PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Daop 1 Jakarta recorded 30,470 train passengers departing from Gambir Station, Pasar Senen Station, and Jakarta Kota Station during the long holiday at the end of October.

"The passengers' favorite destinations this time are Yogyakarta, Bandung, Central Java and East Java," said Eva Chairunisa, Head of Public Relations of PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, in a written statement quoted on Friday, October 30.

To anticipate the increase in passengers, PT KAI has also operated 27 additional train departures in stages with 13 trains departing from Pasar Senen Station, 12 trains from Gambir Station, and two departing from Jakarta Kota Station.

Despite the increase in passengers, Eva said, her party still implements COVID-19 prevention procedures in the station area and on trips including limiting the number of passengers.

"We are limiting passenger occupancy to a maximum of 70 percent of normal conditions," he said.

In addition, in an effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, departing passengers are required to attach the results of a rapid test or swab test and take body temperature measurements.

If a prospective passenger has a body temperature above 37.3 degrees then he / she is not allowed to continue the journey and the ticket fee will be fully refunded.

"PT KAI also provides a faceshield that must be used by service users along the train journey to the destination station. Along the way, officers will also carry out periodic body temperature checks," said Eva.

"We have also prepared a number of supporting facilities for the implementation of health protocols such as the addition of hand washing devices and sanitizers as well as the installation of physical distance boundary markers at stations and trains," he concluded.
