JAKARTA - Deputy Chairperson of the MPR who is also Secretary General of Gerindra Ahmad Muzani assesses that the culture of gratitude in Indonesian politics has begun to disappear because it is rare for leaders to express gratitude to those who have raised them.

"In political etiquette in Indonesia, it is rare for our leaders to thank the people who raised him, let alone thank the party that raised his name," Muzani said in a written statement quoted by Antara, Saturday, June 25.

He said this while attending the graduation ceremony for the Riyadhussalam Islamic Boarding School led by KH Abdul Wahid, Mandalawangi, Pandeglang, Banten.

Muzani emphasized the importance of moral and ethical education in the world of education because it is an important provision for every student if he later becomes a leader in the community.

According to him, people often put aside etiquette and morals to thank those who have raised them, especially in the world of politics these anomalies often occur.

Muzani assessed that this ungrateful political tradition does not show good manners and morals. He said, in the Indonesian political tradition, gratitude is something that is rare and rarely found so that it becomes an expensive thing.

"People raised by the party, actually compete with the party that raised them, compete for positions. Our political ethics have been shunned by our political actors," he said.

Muzani assessed that manners and morals of gratitude are ways to seek blessings for the good of building the nation and state.

Therefore, according to him, it is important for the community to thank those who have raised themselves to achieve the common good.

Muzani advised students who have graduated not to forget the services of kyai, teachers, and parents who raise them, including the services of Islamic boarding schools which are their alma mater.

"Respect your teachers, your kiai, the ustaz who have taught you to provide useful life sciences for you and your religion. Never forget, let alone betray those who have raised you," he said.

He hopes that Ponpes Riyadhussalam can create future leaders who can maintain the traditions and manners of gratitude in the life of the nation and state.
