Scolded For Ngelem, Junior High School Students In Maluku Hang Themselves

JAKARTA - A minor with the initials KB (15 years) from Malifut, North Halmahera Regency (Halut), North Maluku (Malut), was found hanging himself, allegedly often scolded because of his habit of smoking glue.

The Head of North Halmahera Police, AKBP Priyo Utomo through the Head of Public Relations Iptu Mansur Basing confirmed the hanging. The victim is a minor who is still in junior high school in Malifut sub-district.

"The victim by hanging himself was found in an elementary school building, Malifut sub-district," he said as quoted by Antara, Friday, October 30.

Mansur said, the victim was found for the first time by a witness Sergius Barani who works as an ASN.

According to his statement, he received information from Evan that there was a suspect in the elementary school class, then the witness went straight to the school to check information and peeked through the window. He was surprised by the condition of a boy who was already in a position with a rope tied around his neck.

"The witness then came out and shouted that someone hanged himself and immediately the people ran to the scene. After a few minutes the victim's family came and immediately untied the rope around his neck, then the victim was brought home to be buried," he said.

Meanwhile, according to information from MB who is the victim's biological brother, the incident occurred on Wednesday, October 28 at around 11.00 WIT, the witness saw the victim being scolded by his mother on the grounds that the victim often smoked glue, then the witness asked the victim but the victim was silent.

So that made him angry and released three slaps to the cheek of the victim as a warning not to repeat his actions again.

Then he rushed off to throw the net on the beach and at around 15.00 WIT, the witness returned home and asked his mother about the whereabouts of the victim who was also his younger brother. His mother said that the victim had left the house. Until around 14.00 WIT he heard the news that his younger brother was no longer alive.

Meanwhile, according to the results of coordination, the victim's family refused to take a post mortem and the victim died purely by suicide. The temporary suspicion is that the victim is depressed as a result of being angry with his family.
