JAKARTA - The Tebet Police are investigating the alleged child abduction case of a woman named Erna, at Manggarai Station, South Jakarta.
The Head of the Tebet Police, Kompol Chitya Intania Kusnita, said the victim with the initials MR (4) was suspected of being kidnapped by a man with the initials GN (40). The incident occurred on Thursday, June 23, at around 13.30 WIB.
The case began when Erna asked her son to meet GN at the Bogor station for his cellphone business. After meeting with GN, the widowed woman again continued her journey to Jakarta, heading to Kota station. The three, GN, MR and Erna took the electric train (KRL).
Arriving at Manggarai Station, GN invited Erna and her son to get off the train to perform the Dzuhur prayer at the station.
“The mother (Erna) was told to pray, but the perpetrator (MR) was holding her child. Maybe because she already believed, the mother left a bag containing two cellphones and Rp. 500 thousand in cash," said Commissioner Chitya in a written statement, Friday, June 24.
After performing the midday prayer, Erna panicked because she did not see her child with GN who was entrusted to him during the prayer. Erna tries to find her son who was brought by GN.
"The mother contacted security. The station and its staff also helped find the child," he said.
Luckily for Erna, one of the employees at Kalibata Mall found a child who turned out to be MR, her son. MR was found alone, without GN.
"After that, the station reported to the Tebet Police regarding the alleged kidnapping of children at Manggarai Station," he continued.
