MAJENE - Floods submerged the trans-Sulawesi route in Mekkatta Village, Malunda District, Majene Regency, West Sulawesi (Sulbar) due to heavy rains that hit the area.

The trans-Sulawesi route in Mekkatta Village which was flooded due to heavy rains made it difficult for vehicles to pass.

"Vehicles from the city of Mamuju and from the city of Majene have difficulty crossing the flood because it is dangerous because of the high flood water that inundates the road," said Milda, a resident, quoted by Antara, Friday, June 24.

Due to the flood, vehicles were stuck in traffic because they could not cross the flood on the trans Sulawesi route.

Meanwhile, the Head of Mekkatta Village, Haeruddin, said that the flooding in his village also inundated the settlements inhabited by hundreds of residents in five hamlets.

"In addition to submerging the trans Sulawesi road, the flood also submerged settlements inhabited by hundreds of residents in Salubungo Hamlet, Bawappu Hamlet, Samalio Hamlet, North Samalio Hamlet and Alle-Allle Hamlet, Mekkatta Village," he said.

The flood that occurred was due to the overflow of the river in Mekkatta Village. According to him, a number of residents have taken refuge in their relatives' houses which are safer from flooding and are also trying to save their valuables from being submerged.
