Hundreds Of Santri From 11 Islamic Boarding Schools In Rejang Lebong Bengkulu Participate In National Defense Action

BENGKULU - Hundreds of students from 11 Islamic boarding schools in Rejang Lebong Regency, Bengkulu Province, took part in a state defense action held by the TNI Headquarters in that area to increase love for the country among young people.

Deputy Territorial Assistant to the TNI Commander, Brigadier General TNI (Mar) I Made Wahyu Santoso said that the history of the founding of the Indonesian nation cannot be separated from the role of Islamic boarding schools, student (santri), ulama, and other elements of society in seizing independence.

"This boarding school is a supporting component for the TNI to be able to carry out state defense, one of which must be love for the country", said I Made Wahyu on the sidelines of the state defense action for the Islamic boarding school community at Makodim 0409/Rejang Lebong, quoted from Antara, Thursday, June 23.

He explained, that in this state defense action activity, students were given knowledge of the history of the formation of the Indonesian nation and the struggle of the heroes in seizing independence from the colonial nation, which was commanded by Commander Sudirman, then from among the scholars, there was KH Hasyim Asyari and others.

According to him, the act of defending the country is part of jihad, so it is in his interest to provide input and direction to the students or residents of this Islamic boarding school so that their love for the Indonesian homeland will increase.

In addition, this state defense activity is hoped that it will create a sense of belonging to the nation and state. In the future, if anything happens, all components and the community can survive, and the economy will continue to run with the abundant natural resources we have.

"Therefore, this action to defend the country must really be increased, not only in Islamic boarding schools but also in other communities", he said.

Meanwhile, Rejang Lebong Regent Syamsul Effendi who was present at the event stated that this act of defending the country must be instilled in each of them because defending the country is also part of love for the country.

"This activity is not only for the people of Islamic boarding schools but more than that this action to defend the country must also be instilled by all Indonesian people", said Regent Syamsul Effendi.
