The Deputy Governor Of DKI Calls That He Will Follow The Central Government Not To Increase The Minimum Wage In 2021

JAKARTA - Deputy Governor of DKI Ahmad Riza Patria said that his party would follow the decision of the central government, in this case the Ministry of Manpower, which did not raise the minimum wage in 2021.

"The decision (minimum wage) is like last year. We respect the decision taken, we respect it, we carry it out. Of course we at the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government refer to the existing rules and regulations," said Riza at the City Hall, Tuesday, October 27 evening.

Riza actually knows that workers hope that the minimum wage during the COVID-19 pandemic will increase from 2020.

Therefore, Riza said that his party opened a dialogue that wanted to convey his aspirations and desires to increase the minimum wage.

"Please propose, convey your aspirations. We will discuss it later. Of course, the central government makes a decision based on a careful consideration process, but that does not mean we are closing communication," said Riza.

Previously, the Minister of Manpower Ida Fauziyah said that the minimum wage in 2021 would not increase like the previous year.

Ida said, the government must maintain business continuity by entrepreneurs, in addition to providing wage protection to workers.

"This is a middle path that must be taken by the government in difficult and not easy conditions. We protect wages, we must also pay attention to business continuity," said Ida.

Meanwhile, the Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPI) regretted the attitude of the Minister of Manpower who issued a circular asking governors to make adjustments to the determination of the minimum wage in 2021 to equal the value of the 2020 minimum wage.

President of KSPI Said Iqbal asked the governors to ignore the minister of manpower's circular in setting the 2021 minimum wage. "Menaker has no sensitivity to the fate of laborers, only looks at the interests of entrepreneurs," said Iqbal.
