East Java Regional Police Investigate The Flow Of Funds And Khilafatul Muslim Networks Related To Terrorists

SURABAYA - The case of the Khilafatul Muslimin Surabaya Raya did not stop at naming the suspect Aminuddin Mahmud. Investigators from the Ditreskrimum of the East Java Police are currently exploring the concept of caliphate with the aim of establishing a state and network of illegal mass organizations.

Dirreskrimum Polda East Java, Kombes Totok Suharyanto, said the Khilafatul Muslimin mass organization has a syiar understanding of the goal of establishing a state. This symbol is carried out simultaneously in various regions in Indonesia, on Sunday, May 29, 2022.

Apart from Surabaya, the convoy was also held in Jakarta, West Java, Central Java and Lampung. In the convoy, the method used by the Khilafatul Muslimin was to distribute brochures, appeal and invite the public to support the Khilafatul Muslimin led by Abdul Qodir Hasan Baraja in Lampung.

"This suspect has a direct connection with Abdul Qodir Hasan Baraja in Lampung, to carry out the symbols of caliphate understanding with the aim of establishing a caliphate state, which was carried out on May 29, 2022," said Totok, at the East Java Police Headquarters in Surabaya, Friday, June 10.

In addition to understanding the symbols of the caliphate, Totok said that investigators are currently investigating the source of funds for the Khilafatul Muslimin Surabaya Raya. "For the time being, from the evidence that is secured, the source of the funds is still contributions that are made by members. But at this time we are still investigating whether there are funds from outside or not," he said.

Abdul Qadir Hasan Baraja founded the Khilafatul Muslimin in 1977. Then, Abdul Qadir Hasan Baraja also co-founded the Indonesian Mujahideen Council (MMI) in 2000.

Khilafatul Muslimin is also said to have affinity with radical groups. Nevertheless, continued Totok, investigators are still investigating further to ascertain whether Khilafatul Muslimin is affiliated with a terrorist network.

"We are currently still in the process of investigating the network. As for one suspect (Aminuddin), last night we immediately arrested him," he said.

The suspect Aminuddin was charged with Article 82 of Law No. 16 of 2017 concerning the establishment of a replacement regulation for Law No. 2 of 2017 concerning amendments to Law No. 17 of 2013 concerning community organizations.

Then Article 107 of the Criminal Code Article 15 of Law No. 1 of 1946, then Article 55 of the Criminal Code. The threat of imprisonment for life, or imprisonment for a minimum of five years and a maximum of 20 years in prison.
