Mass Pedemo Rejects Law To Create Collective Work In Horse Sculpture Area

JAKARTA - The police have concentrated mass demonstrations against the Omnibus Law of the Job Creation Law in the Arjuna Wiwaha Horse Statue area, Central Jakarta. A total of 750 joint TNI-Polri personnel were alerted to guard the action.

"For security at the Horse Statue, in particular, we deployed approximately 750 personnel, both the TNI and Polri," said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Heru Novianto to reporters, Thursday, October 22.

In order to focus the mass of the action, the police also isolated several points around Taman Pandang. So that later the masses did not spread to other locations.

"Here we have lowered the bulkhead here because at this time we cannot be in Taman Pandang because the situation is different from the situation in general," he said.

From the observation, the masses from the labor union had gathered at the area of the Horse Statue. However, there were still several groups that had gathered at another point.

"There are several groups who want to go to Tugu Tani, that's one group," he said.

"We are waiting for how many of them will be monitored because it is still noon. Maybe later at 3 o'clock we will be able to read the mass movements there," he continued.

The demonstration against the Shrimp Omnibus Law on Job Creation was carried out by the Federation of Electronic Metal Workers and Machinery Workers' Unions throughout Indonesia (FSP LEM SPSI). There were also masses of students.
