JAKARTA - The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) confirmed that the trial of the Police Code of Ethics Commission (KKEP) conducted by AKBP Raden Brotoseno took place before the era of the leadership of the Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo. The process ran in 2020.

"I need to say that the decision on the code of ethics trial is on October 13, 2020, so that was the era before Mr. Listyo Sigit," said National Police Chief Commissioner Inspector General (Ret.) Benny Mamoto to reporters, Thursday, June 2.

That way, this problem will be a lesson and evaluation for the Police in the future. The goal is that the Bhayangkara Corps can provide far better ethical decisions for police personnel who are caught in legal problems.

"In our opinion, in the future, the Police need to be more careful when the code of ethics trial is carried out. In deciding cases of convicts of corruption, it is necessary to consider the sense of justice of the people," he said.

On the other hand, said Benny, Kompolnas has tried to clarify directly to the Police regarding the results of the decision on the code of ethics of AKBP Raden Brotseno.

Kompolnas also considers that the decision related to the case must be respected because it has permanent legal force. Even so, Benny emphasized that in the future the Police must be more careful in deciding ethics trials. Moreover, this problem is related to corruption cases.

"Because the decision has been signed and the trial of the code of ethics has certainly been carried out with procedures. We should respect that. In the future, in our opinion, the decision maker needs to be careful in the trial of the code of ethics for convicted corruption," said Benny.

Brotoseno is a member of the National Police with the rank of Adjunct Senior Commissioner of Police (AKBP). He had served in the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

In the course of his career, Brotoseno stumbled upon a corruption case in rice field printing in Ketapang, West Kalimantan.
