Bangka Deputy Regent Resigns, Replaces DPD Member Hudarni Rani Who Has Passed Away

JAKARTA - Deputy Regent of Central Bangka, Province of the Bangka Belitung Islands (Babel) Herry Erfian has reportedly resigned from his position. Herry Erfian became an interim replacement (PAW) as a member of the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia (DPD RI).

"I have stated that I have resigned and chosen the DPD RI. My consideration is of course service and being able to do more for the people of Bangka Belitung," said Herry Erfian, quoting Antara, Wednesday, June 1.

Herry has the constitutional mandate to replace Hudarni Rani as a DPD member due to his permanent absence (died).

Erzaldi Rosman Djohan's older brother (the former Governor of Bangka Belitung) is in third place in the DPD vote under Hudarni Rani.

Then he was elected Deputy Regent of Central Bangka, after failing to win the DPD seat.

"After almost two years as deputy regent, today I resigned and chose to become a member of the DPD as an interim replacement," he also said.

He said all administrative processes have been prepared and are being taken care of and in the next few days, a hearing to dismiss his position as deputy regent in the local DPRD will be held.

"The process has reached the KPU RI and the Ministry of Home Affairs, if there are no obstacles in July 2022 I will be active as a member of the DPD RI," he said again.

Herry Erfian expressed his gratitude to the people of Central Bangka who have supported and helped him.

"Of course, I have thought about the decision I made carefully, maybe there are many who are disappointed, but I also have to appreciate the 50 thousand more votes from the DPD that supported me at that time," he also said.
