PDIP's Response When Political Parties Invite One Another To Coalition

JAKARTA - Political parties have shown a coalition for the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres). In fact, a coalition has been formed which will definitely unite to appear in the upcoming elections. Namely, the United Indonesia Coalition (KIB) initiated by Golkar, the National Mandate Party (PAN), and the United Development Party (PPP).

The emergence of KIB had sparked a proposal for a new coalition that the National Awakening Party (PKB) wanted to form. Even openly, the Deputy Chairperson of the PKB, Jazilul Fawaid, invited the NasDem Party and the Democratic Party to work together to nominate the General Chair, Muhaimin Iskandar or Cak Imin. However, NasDem firmly refused the invitation. While the Democrats are still calculating the coalition's invitation.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) and Gerindra seem relaxed about forming a coalition. Does PDIP actually not want to form a coalition? Given that the party chaired by Megawati Soekarnoputri can carry its own presidential candidate?

Returning to the United Indonesia Coalition, nowadays, they are starting to actively look at the presidential candidates that will be promoted. The coalition is also diligent in inviting a number of political parties to join.

Most recently, PAN chairman Zulkifli Hasan invited the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) to join the United Indonesia Coalition. Zulhas immediately conveyed the invitation while attending the PKS event.

"Our atmosphere is stuffy, negative, and unproductive. Maybe the result of yesterday's presidential election was only two pairs. Because there were only two pairs of presidential elections, the supporters desperately supported the candidate. Therefore we tried to form a coalition, meaning that hopefully, PKS can work together. This means hopefully PKS can be together," said Zulkifli at the PKS 20th Anniversary Peak event, Sunday, May 29.

Zulhas explained that the United Indonesia Coalition was created to bring up more than two pairs of presidential candidates. This, he said, was to reduce the stuffy and unproductive atmosphere that happened in the previous presidential election.

"It means that there are no more candidates for the presidential election tomorrow, if possible 3, thank God, it can be more. This is to reduce what we are experiencing today, with the stuffy and unproductive atmosphere," he explained.

According to Zulhas, a big country is a country that can collaborate, one of which is in participating in political contestations. Therefore, he hopes that PKS will also join the coalition that was initiated with Golkar and PPP.

"A big country, according to the PKS president, can only advance to become a big country if we collaborate together," said Zulkifli. Responding to the hectic number of political parties inviting each other to coalitions leading to the 2024 presidential election, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) is not worried about this phenomenon.

It is known, PDIP is rumored to be joining Gerindra in the upcoming presidential election. It's just that to this day the two have not given a signal that they will work together to carry the presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto said he learned from the previous elections, that political party cooperation was not only based on ideological, historical, party platform similarities, but also focused on who the presidential and vice-presidential candidates would be promoted.

"So, as long as there is no mutual understanding on this matter and we are still waiting for the aspirations of the people towards our candidate for leader in the upcoming 2024 election, there is still a lot of room to build cooperation," said Hasto Kristiyanto, Sunday, May 29. He said PDIP was still concentrating on helping the people to recover and recover their economy from the impact of the current global dynamic situation. "PDIP Perjuangan still believes that the current priority scale is for the people," said Hasto Kristiyanto.
