Ridwan Kamil's Son Still Missing In The Aare River, Swiss SAR Team Expands Search Today

JAKARTA - The West Java Provincial Government has provided information on the disappearance of the eldest son of the Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, Emmeril Kahn Mumtadz (Eril) in Switzerland since Thursday, May 26.

Representatives of the West Java Leadership Administration Bureau explained that at this time Eril had not been found. Therefore, the Swiss SAR team again conducted a search along the river Aare, Switzerland, with a wider range today.

The SAR team consisted of elements of the river police, ambulance, and the Bern City fire department.

"The Swiss Police along with the SAR team will continue the search process with a wider range today, Friday, May 27, 2022, starting at 9 a.m. Swiss time until it is finished," said a representative for the West Java Leadership Bureau in a virtual press conference, Friday, 27 May.

Currently, Ridwan Kamil is in Switzerland with his family while waiting for further news on the search for Eril. The Indonesian Embassy in Bern has coordinated with the Swiss police, the Swiss emergency line, and the nearest hospital in the City of Bern in the search process.

"On behalf of the family, we ask for prayers from all residents, from all relatives so that it is easier to meet Eril in a safe condition," said Eril's uncle, Elpi Nazmuzaman.

For information, the news of Eril's missing contact was received by Ridwan Kamil when he and a group of the West Java Provincial Government were on an overseas working visit in Italy and England on Thursday, May 26, at 15.00 p.m. GMT+7 (Indonesian Western Time or WIB).

Based on the family's explanation, Eril and her sister, Camillia Laetitia Azzahra, are currently on a trip to Switzerland in order to find a master's degree school and scholarships for Eril and her sister who will continue their undergraduate studies.

During this visit, Eril and Camillia took the time to swim in the Aaree river. The family received information that a strong current was hitting the river. The two children of Ridwan Kamil tried to climb to the river bank to save themselves, but it turned out that Eril was carried away by the current and lost contact until now.

The Swiss SAR team began searching for Eril from Thursday, May 26 at 10:00 a.m. to 15:00 p.m. Swiss time. The search continues to this day.
