RIAU - Deputy Governor of Riau Edy Natar Nasution asked the Social Service (Dinsos) of Riau Province and regencies/cities to take care of people with mental disorders (ODGJ) who roam the streets so that they can get good health services.
"Service to ODGJ is not only a shared responsibility, but also a responsibility that will be questioned in the afterlife, according to the work we are currently doing as public servants," said Edy Nasution in Pekanbaru, quoted from Antara, Friday, May 26.
Edy Nasution visited an ODGJ on Tengku Zainal Abidin Street, Rintis Village, Limapuluh Subdistrict, Pekanbaru. The visit was a form of the Riau Provincial Government's concern for ODGJ which was previously reported by the public to the Deputy Governor of Riau.
Service to ODGJ is a shared responsibility, especially the government as a public servant. The Riau Provincial Government has a Handsome Mental Hospital (RSJ) which is quite good, equipped with infrastructure and reliable human resources to serve patients.
"Therefore, the Social Services Office of Riau Province, regencies/cities need to continue to coordinate serving ODGJ so that in the future there will be no more people with mental disorders wandering the streets and not receiving attention from the government," he said.
The review was carried out at the same time as a form of the Riau Provincial Government's commitment to improving mental health and public health.
"For ODGJ services, they also have the same rights as other people, so that the services provided must be better for them," he said.
The Head of the Riau Province Social Service (Dinsos), through the Head of the Riau Social Rehabilitation Division, Andry Rinaldi M Sos, conveyed that the handling of ODGJ was in accordance with the assessment. While mental health disorders experienced by patients are more due to depression because there are serious problems related to work problems or because they were cheated before.
"In terms of conditions, the patient visited by the Deputy Governor of Riau was not abandoned and wandering, where previously the patient had also been treated in a hospital. However, because there was a request from the family, the person concerned underwent outpatient treatment," he explained.
However, he said, his party also continues to coordinate with the Pekanbaru City Government and patients who live normally with their families and can be well received by the community and their environment.

In addition, the family still cares and continues to monitor the presence and survival of ODGJ. For basic needs such as food and clothing there is no problem. The plan for treatment is simply outpatient treatment which is currently being assisted by the local RW to take care of BPJS Health.
However, if one day the family needs hospital treatment, the family immediately re-coordinates with the Mental Hospital.
